Showtime Farm’s head trainer Colleen Acosta has a long history of success in both the Hunter and the Jumper ring. Colleen started riding as a child with her mother in Florida where she learned the basics of riding and her love of horses. Colleen began her professional career with Katie Young in Jacksonville, Florida. After working with Katie for 5 years, she and her husband were transferred to Dallas, Texas where she worked at Woodhill Farm with Matt Cyphert for 8 years before transitioning to Showtime in 2012.
Colleen has won and has had numerous placings in both International Hunter Derbies and USHJA National Derbies on multiple horses. She placed in the top 25 in years 2008-2010 and 2013 in the International Hunter Derby Finals. She qualified INXS and will compete with him this year in the 2015 International Hunter Derby Final. She also has campaigned horses successfully to national placings in the USEF Pre-Green Incentive Program in 2014 and 2015. Colleen trained Limbo, 2014 Horse of the Year, from a pre-green horse to his current success in the Junior Hunter arena with his young owner.
Colleen has been extremely successful in the Grand Prix Jumper arena in recent years with Diamond, Commodoro 2, Pacifico, and Cantu V. Some of her wins with Anastasia Stewart’s Diamond in the last year were in the Greater Oklahoma Grand Prixs I and II, Dominos Grand Prix in Gulfport, as well as the Nashville Grand Prix and the Music City Grand Prix at Brownland Farm. She has also placed successfully with several other horses in Welcome Stakes and jumper classes at all levels.
As a trainer Colleen has qualified horses and riders for the most prestigious horse shows in the nation. Her students and horses have been successful with placings at Devon, Capital Challenge, Harrisburg, Washington international, and the National Horse Show in Kentucky. She has also qualified students for the Children’s Regional Jumper championships, USEF Pessoa Equitation Medal Finals, ASPCA MacClay Equitation Finals ,and USEF Pony Finals.
Colleen enjoys teaching, training, and fostering a welcoming family environment at Showtime. We are an active show barn and enjoy showing across the country throughout the year. Colleen has great experience and success developing young horses and riders, as well appropriately matching horses to her clients. She welcomes students who are committed to learning and horsemanship from children to adults into her program.
